BRIDGES
FOR LIFE PROGRAM:
The
Bridges Program is a unique service designed to focus on
a more holistic approach to medication adherence. This program
also broadens the definition, to include, developing attitudes
and behaviors that promote repression of the virus and healing
of the immune system. The focus is on supporting individuals
in keeping their medical appointments, adherence to opportunistic
infection prophylaxis, exercise and good nutritional intake.
In collaboration with Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, the program
is also designed to "bridge" the gap between the
institutional setting and the community, giving individuals
in the institution the opportunity to participate actively
in their own treatment in the community. Bridges provides
a series of groups which offer support, company, and a structure
for members to address any concerns about living with HIV,
about issues of relationships, health, mental, emotional
health, and wellness.
